Har du bange anelser?

Kramer:
... I actually found the "jeg har BANGE anelser" comment in the old subtitles of the original Star Wars movie to be very amusing.

Nick:
What does "jeg har BANGE anelser" mean?????

Kramer:
It means "I have a bad feeling about this"

Nick:
What's funny about that?

Kramer:
It's not "ha ha" funny. It's more like a case of repeating it often enough until it gets ridiculous! And "jeg har bange anelser", which sounds more like Danish or something rather than Norwegian, looked pretty stupid after the first 30 times I saw it. And even more stupid when I heard someone mention it.

It's like if you're like quoting anything from Star Wars to another person who recognizes it, like "lock the doors...and hope they don't have blasters", once in a while for many months, maybe years, it gets more amusing each time. Hard to explain, but trust me....

"Jeg har bange anelser" translates literally to English as "I have bad feelings" or "I have misgivings"

Nick:
The only Norwegian I know is "Jeg har bange anseler", which doesn't help much.

Kramer:
He, he!! I can picture you walking into a Norwegian store, looking a little angry and frustrated, walking up to the clerk...hit the counter hard with your fist and shout with an irritated voice "Jeg har bange anelser!!"

Hmmmmmmmm.......... hmmmmmmmmmmm.............
I don't think so.

Kramer explains:

One of AFSJJBDDD's favorite replies, as a replacement for the classic "No", is the expression: "Hmmmm.....hmmmm.....I don't think so"

The line comes from the movie Police Academy, from 1984. Where a criminal holds the very little liked Lieutenant Harris as hostage. The criminal shouts, while holding Lieutenant Harris infront of himself, from a roof-top: "Why don't you shoot back?" One of the police officers asks "Should we shoot back?" While in typical action movies you would get an instant "No, it's too risky, we're gonna hit the Lieutenant" Commandan Lassard, however, takes a very long while to think, while saying "Hmmmmmm.........hmmmmmm...." and then comes with a slow, but still unsure "I don't think so..."

It's a very funny scene, because it almost seems as if Lassard wants to see the very unpopular Lieutenant shot! :o)
